HOW TO COPE WITH PERIOD/ MENSTRUAL CRAMPS

 What  periods are? A period is a part of every girl’s life. It’s women monthly bleeding from the vagina for a week or 5-7 days. It is also called menstruation. It’s a menstrual cycle that happens every 28 days; that’s why it is called a period.

 Most women are suffering from severe or painful period cramps. It is a painful, uncomfortable, and weird situation that happens before or during the period. It’s a syndrome called dysmenorrhea. Before the periods, some of the symptoms indicate that your menstrual cycle is coming soon;

This includes moodiness, anxiety, acne, slight pain in your lower abdomen, sadness, bloating, and back pain. During this period, you also suffer from these cramps. Still, you are hardly suffering pain in your abdomen and back; you are getting emotional, your stress level is very high, you are getting depressed and feeling very uncomfortable.


ARE YOU SUFFERING FROM PERIOD CRAMPS???

There are some ways to help get rid of period cramps. These tips and remedies can help to ease cramps. Some of the time, we can overcome the period cramps at home with some remedies.

USING HEATING PADS/HOT WATER BOTTLE

It is the best and fastest way to overcome period cramps. Using a hot water bottle or heating pads on the belly can give some relief from this pain. It is very helpful because heat can reduce the constriction of blood vessels and dilate the vessel to improve blood flow to the uterus. It can also relax muscles of the abdomen and uterus and help to reduce pain.

TAKING A HOT SHOWER

Taking a shower or washing your hair during a period is good or not? Most of the women didn’t wash their hair and take a bath. It is wrong!! Taking a hot shower during the period can ease the period cramp. It also promotes blood flow and overcomes the pain.

Taking a warm bath during periods can help you feel fresh and overcome your stress; it gives you mental relaxation and a fresh mood.

EXERCISE OR SOME YOGA TIPS

Few minutes of yoga and exercise can make your day perfect. Exercise and Yoga are really good for health. During the periods do aerobic exercise, that can raise your heart rate and metabolism.



These include running, walking, riding a bicycle, swimming, and so on. Yoga includes stretching your muscles, and breathing can help get rid of period cramps and give you a soothing effect. 


LIE DOWN

If you are suffering from period pain at night and don’t have to sleep well, you feel the worst pain in your back and feel uncomfortable.



Then take a pillow and lie down on your back and keep this pillow under your knees. Or lie on your favorite side and bring your knees to the chest or lie in a cat style. It will help you relieve back pain and the pressure exerts on your back. It, so an uncomfortable position to sleep well and ease period cramp considerably. 


 

DRINK HERBAL TEA

Many herbal teas may help relieve menstrual cramps. They have anti-inflammatory properties. It can reduce the muscle contraction present in the uterus that causes cramps and pain in the abdomen and uterus. Herbal teas are very beneficial for our health it is also called anti-stress.



It also may help us to maintain your stress level and mind fresh during your periods. Some of the best tea for period cramps are ginger tea, green tea, paper mint tea, cinnamon tea, chamomile tea, red raspberry tea, dandelion root tea, and lemon balm tea.


 

TAKE OVER - THE COUNTER (OTC) MEDICATIONS


The hormone prostaglandin secretions during a period can cause muscle contraction in the uterus. Due to this, you may suffer from pain and period cramps. In this situation, the NON STEROIDAL ANTI – INFLAMMATORY DRUGS (NSAIDs) can be very helpful to relieve pain and period cramps.



Some of the over-the-counter drugs are available to take it easy if you feel pain and cramps. This includes ibuprofen ( Advil, Motrin, Nuprin, and others ), naproxen sodium ( Aleve, Anaprox, and others ), ketoprofen (Actron, Orudis, and others ). 

TAKE CARE OF YOUR DIET

Some of the foods can harm your body and can cause cramps during periods. Some of the healthy foods help us relieve cramps naturally, and they also have a great taste and are healthy for us. Take fruits, especially water-rich fruits, as much as you can like watermelon, melon, cucumber leafy green vegetables.



Don’t take salt or sodium-rich foods like fast foods, readymade snacks, and fried foods that can cause bloating and inflammation during periods because excess salt can retain water in your blood vessels. Due to this, blood cannot flow easily due to vessel contraction. Take dark chocolates to keep your mind relaxed.


 

TAKING HORMONAL BIRTH CONTROLS PILLS


Period cramps can also be caused by hormone imbalance. If you balance the level of this hormone-like progesterone and estrogen, it helps compress the lining of the uterus and become the lining of the uterus, so it sheds more easily. Due to this, the pain and cramps are reduced considerably. You can start taking birth control pills to overcome your cramp during the menstrual cycle; you can only take pills if your doctor recommends you.


USE SANITARY PADS OR TAMPONS


Suppose you are feeling uncomfortable and feeling anxious during your periods. In that case, you need to wear sanitary pads, tampons, etc. you don’t need to worry about your discomfort in this situation. It is the best way to overcome this, but you should be careful about your hygiene.



If you are using pads or tampons during the menstrual cycle, you should change your pad after an interval and keep avoiding using the pad or tampons for more than 3 to 4 hours. Keep changing your pads for better comfort, and this will reduce uterus pain and bacteria and keep you looking stunning as normal days.
